On April 3, 2017, Megan Jessee was named the ninth head coach in women's soccer program history. Jessee arrived at Rhode Island after spending the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach at Wake Forest.
While with the Demon Deacons, Jessee was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the women's soccer program. She worked with the Demon Deacon goalkeepers, totaling 86 shutouts during her tenure - including 15 shutouts in 2009 and 14 in 2011, which rank as the two highest totals in school history.
Jessee helped guide Wake Forest to the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference team title and six NCAA Championship appearances. In 2009, the Demon Deacons program reached historic heights, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship and finishing with a final national ranking of No. 8 in the country.
Prior to her time at Wake Forest, Jessee spent a year as the women's soccer graduate assistant at Slippery Rock University. While at Slippery Rock, Jessee served as the field player and goalkeeper coach and also helped with recruiting and team operations.
Jessee also has coached for the Connecticut Olympic Development Program, the FSA Soccer Plus Football Club, Soccer Plus Camps and the Region 1 ODP Girls Soccer Camp.
Matt Anderson joins URI from St. John's Women's Soccer Staff, where he served as the director of operations and was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2023 season. During his time with the Red Storm, Brooke Boyd was named on United Soccer Coaches All-East Region team and Jessica Garziano was named Big East Midfielder of the year, All-American Second Team and drafted by Angel City F.C..
Anderson spent a season as an assistant coach with the UAlbany women's soccer program. Under his tutelage, two Great Dane players were named to the America East All-Conference First Team. Freshman goalkeeper Cassandra Coster earned all-rookie recognition for UAlbany and finished 13th nationally in save percentage in 2021.
Prior to his time at UAlbany, Anderson served as an assistant coach at St. Francis Brooklyn from 2019-21. Anderson assisted in building the program that began in 2019. During his time there, he oversaw the first home and road wins in program history. He played an integral part in Avery Gonzalez earning the program's first ever all-conference accolade, an NEC All-Rookie Team nod.
Before his time with the Terriers, Anderson served as an assistant coach with The King's College men's team in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. from 2018-19. While acting as their assistant coach, a pair of his student-athletes would garner the conference's Rookie and Player of the Year awards, and the United State Collegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Year award. Anderson also brought the team to the playoffs for the first time in school history, as well as their first appearance in the Division III NCAA Tournament.
An English native, Anderson earned his bachelor of science degree from Teeside University in 2017.
Mackey joins the Rams from Harvard, making two NCAA Tournament appearances in the last two years with the Crimson. "Megan is a young coach who has played at the highest levels of Division I women's soccer at Harvard," said Jessee. "Her experience as a student-athlete at that level will help her connect with our players to push them to be their very best. I believe although Megan has limited college coaching experience, she has great soccer knowledge and the drive and passion to be a great coach."A native of Crawley, England, Mackey graduated from Harvard in 2023 after spending five years on the Crimson women's soccer team. Her senior year, she helped Harvard win the inaugural Ivy League Tournament Championship, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Mackey played in 55 games during her time at Harvard, playing in the NCAA tournament three times, scoring two game winning goals.Before her time at Harvard, she was a member of the U19 Republic of Ireland National Team and served as a team captain. She was a UEFA U17 European Championship finalist in 2017 and was nominated for the Republic of Ireland U16 Player of the Year in 2016. Mackey played for Chelsea for four years, including the PSG Tournament winners in 2016.
